Bavarian Prime Minister Dr Markus Söder visited the Andechser Molkerei Scheitz on Wednesday, 3 August 2022. The focus was on the topics of energy supply, sustainable organic farming in Bavaria and the sales opportunities for organic food. He was welcomed at Biomilchstraße 1 by Barbara Scheitz, Managing Director of Andechser Molkerei Scheitz, and Georg Scheitz, Mayor of Andechs, member of the general board of the Landesvereinigung für den ökologischen Landbau in Bayern (LVÖ) and also an organic farmer and local 'KlimaBauer' (Climate Fartmer) farm.
In addition to a tour of the production of organic dairy products, the special farming methods of the organic dairy with the 'KlimaBauer' project and the company's highly efficient and innovative energy supply were presented as a model for sustainable organic farming in Bavaria. The core topic of the discussion, in which District Administrator Stefan Frey and Dr Ute Eiling-Hütig, Member of the Bavarian State Parliament, also took part, was the sales markets for organic products and, in this context, current developments and the need to improve sales opportunities in communal catering.
"Our mission to the Bavarian Minister President is: 20% organic food on the menus in communal catering by the end of 2022 - from nurseries to ministry canteens. Organic food as the basis for a conscious diet provides significant added value - also for the environment. A higher proportion of organic food means: more pastures and organically farmed areas with more biodiversity, more diversity of species, more healthy soils, more CO2 sequestration - and more animal welfare," says Barbara Scheitz.
